Bluff Country Co-op and the Winona State University Environmental Club present ‘American Meat,’ at 7:30 p.m., Wed., July 25 at the Science Learning Center (SLC), Stark 120, at Winona State University. From 5:30-7:00 p.m., Colleen and Larry Wolner will host a celebration of local foods and farmers at the Blue Heron Coffeehouse,162 W. 2nd St., Winona. They’ll serve barbecued chicken from Earth Be Glad Farm and pork from a local organic supplier, along with a variety of summer dishes. ($20/person, Limit of 30 people. The panel includes filmmaker Graham Meriwether; Mike Rupprecht of Earth-Be-Glad Farm, a certified organic farm with 100 percent grass-fed beef; Jackie Hoch of Hoch Orchards, which raises grass-fed hogs, turkey and poultry; Jim Riddle, organic farmer and Organic Outreach Coordinator at the University of Minnesota Southwest Research and Outreach Center and former chair of USDA’s National Organic Standards Board.
